毎年趣味で解いている京都大学の英語の英作文の解答例。ただし、ちょっと粗いのと間違えがあるかもしれない。

2009　京都大学

(1) 冗談を言う人間は低俗な奴と顰蹙を買うことがある。しかし、人間関係における一種の潤滑油としてのユーモアの効用については、もっと認識されて良いのではないだろうか。ユーモアのわかる人間となるためには、幅広い知識と柔軟な思考法、それに豊かな感受性が必要だ。ユーモアのセンスがあると思われることは、最高の褒め言葉である。

Those who say humors are sometimes regarded as rude. However, I think humor to be recognized more as a kind of oil for smoothing human relationships. You need a wide knowledge, flexible way of thinking, and broad sense toward things in order to be a person of humor. Being seen to have a sense of humor is the best compliment.

(2) 我が家の古いピアノには懐かしい思い出がたくさん詰まっている。5歳からピアノを始めた娘たちもすっかり大人になり、今や誰も弾かなくなった。しかし、なかなか処分する気にはなれない。そういうピアノを買い取って再生させる会社があるらしい。プロの手で修理すれば、また美しい音を奏でることができるという。

Our old piano is full of old memories. Our daughters who started to play the piano at five years old have grown up to be adults and no one plays it now. However, I cannot come to abandon it. I hear that there is a company which buys such pianos and recycle them. With the professionals fixing them, you can play the beautiful music again.
